A quarter finale. As any sport, it all happens on the ice: if you look at the scoreboard, it is obvious when everything went wrong. Team Bernard was in control until one end slipped of their grasps, so did the match.
However, a quarter finale is not so bad and contributes to progress and improvement. Next competition, the Manitoba Lotteries Curling Classic, stars this Friday. Go Team Bernard Go!

Autumn Gold Classic Update
It started with a nice win over Team Crawford stealing the winning point 6-5. Then, it got a little bit complicated against their following opponent, Team Auld, losing 6-2. So, Bernard had to win one more match in the C event to make it to the playoffs. They had to play against Team Sweeting; that wasn't easy, but they made it to the playoffs, which start tomorrow at 9.00am (mt).

Autumn Gold Classic Update
A win, a loss, not a bad day overall; first match against Homan was quite a game that ended up with a 8-7 win in an extra end. Then, long time Nemesis Kleibrink and Co. were their opponent and trying to make it big in the last end, they gave up a steal of 2 for a 6-2 loss. Tomorrow, Team Bernard starts the day at 9.00am (mt) early against Team Crawford. Let’s go Ladies!

Autumn Gold : Quarter Final
Team Bernard came up a tiny little bit short in their match this morning, so tiny that it took Middaugh an extra end to defeat them 5-4 and ended their road at this 2011 edition of the Curler Corners Autumn Gold Curling Classic.

A quarter final ? With the strong field out there that's pretty well done. What makes it even better is that it is team Bernard third playoffs out of three tournaments. Of course, losing is never fun, we want to win them all but at this stage, when you played till the wee hours the evening before, this is good enough to carry on the momentum to the next tournament.
This said, I don't know if you are like me, but I missed curltv.com. Anything we can do to have it back?
Team Bernard off ice team hope you all had a lovely thanksgiving weekend.

Autumn Gold update
Team Bernard was back on the ice early on the morning to go against Team Overton Clapham. That was a tight match till the very end when Cathy O. Scored 3 to settle a win over our squad 7-3. So the long road it will be as Team Bernard slides to the C event but the important thing: they still had a chance to make it to the playoffs.
Later, they had an appointment with Team Scheidegger and didn’t miss it winning 6-4 to go on in the tournament setting up a meeting with Kelly Scott. The woman from Kelowna has a pretty good record against Cheryl and maybe that’s why things got a little complicated as Team Scott steal one in the eight end to force an extra but at the end, Bernard was stronger and scored 3 to win 8-5.
So, Ladies and gentlemen, our Girls have a spot in the playoffs. The action starts at 9.00am (mt) Monday morning.

Autumn Gold Update
First match was a big battle that Team Bernard managed to win 8-6 against Team Homan. It is a steal of 3 in the fifth that turned things around for the Squad.

Second match was another tight game and with Asham curling tour website having technical problem, it made the suspense last longer – we didn’t really needed that but that was a spectacular come back of our girls – It was 5-3 Thurston heading to the last head, Bernard with the hammer and they brilliantly scored 3 to get away with the win.

Next match Sunday morning at 9.00 (mt) and they will face Team Overton Clapham.
Here some thoughts of our Skip regarding this importance of this tournament for them: “It’s big for us. We want to get into the provincials, so this is a big event on the Alberta tour, and it’s big for us on the Order of Merit to get into the Players’ Championship, and it’s huge for the Olympic Trials qualifying points. “But it’s not close enough for me to start worrying about. A year out from it, the carrot starts to dangle pretty close and you get more focused on it. But right now, there’s so much to take our time that I don’t know that I’m really thinking about it.”

Autumn Gold Update
The day started pretty well for Team Bernard winning their first match 6-2 against Team Scheidegger. They took an early lead and hold on to it. Later on, they were back on the ice for the second match of the day – all that after dropping by CBC studio for a brief radio interview - and Team Bernard was a little slow to start the engine and lost this confrontation against Delia DeJong 5-3.

Bernard will continue in the B event and will play against Team Homan at 9.00 (mt) tomorrow morning.
As for interview, i got this one and am preparing a little something with it to show after the tournament.

Autumn Gold classic updated: stopped in quart
Team Bernard, crowd favorite, had to pack as they lost their quarter final match against Team Nedohin. Even at the start, it wasn’t working as they would have wanted but our girls hung on in there until Team Nedohin stole a point not only in the sixth end, but in the seventh end, which was fatal. Having to score 3 points was a tough thing to do, so Bernard ran out of rock and they lost their match 6-3.
Playoffs are not that bad considering the high field of competition in this event, but they were surely disappointed of this loss especially after such a strong start. But congratulations to Team Nedohin, they defeated the best team!

Next tournament: The 2010 Manitoba Lotteries Women's Curling Classic starting on October 22nd, in less then 2 weeks.

Autumn Gold Classic Update : draw 5 & draw 7
Team Bernard keeps rocking, and they are rocking so darn well, if i can say so this way. 2 very tight matches today both ended in a brilliant way. On the first match, they were playing against Team Webster. In the last end, it was 4-4, Bernard with the hammer and they seized this opportunity scoring 2 for the win keeping a clean record against Team Webster.
On the second match, they were meeting Team Kleibrink. Like my friend Bill said so well, these teams are "OLD" foes and have met many times. As promised, it was a thrilling match. As you can see on the score stats, Team Bernard finished strong with 2 consecutive steals for a place straight in the playoffs.

The Autumn Gold Curling Classic
The Autumn Gold Curling classic first edition was held during the thanks giving weekend in 1978. The total cash prize then was just $5,000. With hard work and perseverance, today, this event is the first slam of the season and got a total cash prize of $52,000.
Each year, during this tournament, the association distributes the Ray Kingsmith award, which has for goal to recognize an individual for their outstanding contributions to the women’s curling. Cheryl always did her part and her hard work was rewarded in 2003 when she was given this award.
For a number of years, Cheryl was the webmaster responsive for that event. They were ups and downs for Cheryl in this tournament and she won it for the first and only time, back in 1990. Team Bernard as we know it today can certainly get a hold in this trophy!
To conclude this history entry, here’s a few caps from last year against Otts. A match won by team Bernard 6-5 that allowed them to make it to the playoffs. Tomorrow, I’ll share a little video!
