Roar of the Rings Epic

We've been talking about it since they qualified and it's happening this week: The provincials starts on January 25th, and Team Bernard first match is Wednesday at 6.30pm (mt).

I had the chance to see Team Bernard live back November but I kinds miss seeing them. I always wanted to do a video of the Roar of the rings final, this incredible run to win a berth in Vancouver so, i did. Enjoy!

Best Shots – Uncut

That was close - such an awesome shot!

Remembering the Roar of the Rings

The Canadian Curling Association (CCA) today announced that Winnipeg will stage the 2013 Tim Hortons Roar of the Rings Canadian Curling Trials, which will determine Canada’s representatives for the 2014 Olympic Winter Games in Sochi, Russia.

It is a good moment to go back in time and review some of the best of moment of the 2009 Olympic Trials. See my special treat on the 2009 Roar of the Rings here which included pictures, articles, scores and stats, the best shots and more. I also added the last point, the uncut version, as it happened, and some very nice screen captures below.

A Special Day

The day is not over, it is still June 30th and as mentioned on yesterday's post, today, it is Cheryl's birthday. Do birthdays have to be special? Hope Cheryl had a special one down there in Calgary as she deserves the best.

A day that will remain special forever for Cheryl and her team, and for us, who follow them for quite a while, it is the day they won the Olympics trials. I found this little video that would close beautifully this day and start on a high note Canada day. It is amazing the things that can be found out there.

Smiling Treat - Roar of the Rings

There is always going to be things to add and to say about the «Roar of the Rings», as i still got videos, screen caps and many pictures to share, but there are so many things to talk about that i am going to keep some bits for later. It is always going to be great to remember this great victory of Team Bernard and how they managed to show the world that dreams do come true when we work for them and believe in them. To close it out on a high note, until we remember it again, here’s all “smile” treat.

And while we are there, a little video of a very strong victory of Team Bernard over Team Jones. That night, Cheryl was on fire.

Roar of the Rings Winner : Team Bernard

National TV set a record with that final. Thousands of Canadians held their breaths when CheryI Bernard threw that last stone, especially when it kept sliding and sliding, and suddenly stopped! It was a great match, you got it all here and words and images.

Remembering Roar of the Ring - Shot of the Match - draw 11

It was a pure joy to see the result of Team Bernard match against Team Jones on draw 11, December 9th; 8-5. And the stone for the win, was one hell of a shot.

Remembering the Roar of the Rings - Draw 13

Remembering the Roar of the Ring - Draw 9 & 11

Remembering the Roar of the Rings - Draw 7

This all happened on December 8th. Team Bernard was still undefeated. How they say it? When you are beautiful and talented, you are also lucky! Picture, post match interview with Cheryl, article, standing, it's all there. Enjoy!

Remembering the Roar of the Rings

Yesterday, i talked about their vision going in to trials. DRAW 1 was covered already in a great pos called RIGHT ON THE BUTTON with nice pictures, a video of one of the best shots of the tournament and details about the draw. That was on December 6th. You can find it find here:

So let's talk about Draw 3 and 5, played on December 7th, in which, Team Bernard played against Team Holland and Team Webster respectively. Oh, better then that, let's Cheryl talks about it herself.

Right on the button

Ok, i took that from the Morning Roar online magazine, modified it a little but Cheryl was on the front page after the first day of competition of the Roar of the Rings, i thought it was pretty cool and i like those pictures quite a lot.

Team Bernard were the only team in the top four to win their opening match. She needed a precise double takeout to score a 10th end fiver and overhaul Thunder Bay's Krista McCarville 11-7. You want to see that point? i got it right here;

"yeah, just a double routine for five" quipped Bernard, "But you know, that's the one we wanted to win".
