Alberta Scott Provincial Pictures

It wasn't our girls'tournament. Not that they weren't ready, no, they work really hard to get there, but they just didn't get the momentum long enough to turn things their way.

It is always disappointing to lose, even more so when it is THE tournament you want to win, but Team Bernard won't manage to effort to come back stronger.

While waiting for pictures of our photographer, here are some pictures of the Alberta Scott Provincial.

It was a week with ups and downs but unfortunately today, more downs and then ups and Team Bernard is out of the Provincials losing to Team Sweeting 10-4. Sometimes, you need just a little luck so the momentum will turn your way but it just didn’t happen today.

Some comments from the skip:

"It wasn't our A game, it definitely wasn't mine. It's been a good week so far, but just a little up and down on different spots and different games. We were never consistent, the four of us, the way you have to be here.

"We were already in trouble at that point. We didn't make the shots we needed to make. We'll go back to the drawing board and work hard over the summer and try to get our Trials spot."

"First year together, first year out playing on arena ice, It's a work in progress. that's for sure. You always expect and hope you're going in the final and all you have to do is put yourself there. It doesn't happen with teams overnight sometimes."

You never want to give it up, but you have to play up to the level that you deserve to be there."

First match up was Team Bernard against Team Nedohin. It started ugly, trailing 1-5 after 3, but Team Bernard managed to dig in and tied up the match. After 8, it was 6-6. Nedohin had the hammer in the extra and had an easy draw for the win.


So, that dragged Team Bernard in the C event but still, there is still a chance to make it to the playoffs and our squad will work really hard to get that spot. Later on, they had to go against Team Owen and it was their turn to start strong with an early lead of 5-0. Then again, the famous 3 handed to Owen but again, Team Bernard refocused and get away with a 8-5 win.


Next and last match to access the playoffs and their opponent is Team Sweeting on sheet C. You can get this match on the livestream on Leduc Radio.

Did you check out the livestream even thought Team Bernard didn’t play on sheet C today?

I did and we can see pretty much what is happening on sheet b so, their first match was played on this sheet and we even got the 3 last ends. So, Bernard gave up 3 again, but I love how they stayed focus and came back with a deuce to increase the gap for the final end. A 9-6 wins over Team Bakker.


Second match was on sheet D so, not glimpse just hearing Cheryl’s shouting and sometimes Susan who can scream pretty hard too. Another 3 points scored by the opponents but again, Team Bernard members kept their head cold and made it. A 8-6 win over Team Scheidegger with what i’ve been told was a perfect freeze to steal on Cheryl’s last rock, their opponents having the hammer coming home, Scheidegger not able to remove that rock.


Next match is at 2.00pm (mt) tomorrow afternoon against Team Nedohin... you know, team Heather Nedohin? Doesn’t matter, this is Team Bernard time to win this match.

A livestream was available for that match. Actually, a livestream is available for all the draws but for the matches play on sheet C, so, i’ll inform you via our facebook page for the next one that will feature Team Bernard.

So, if you seen it, you know that what made the big difference is the little shift of momentum on the 8 end and an ugly 9 end in which Team Bernard allowed Team Kauffman to steal 3. Make the final Team Bernard 3 Team Kauffman 6.

I was on the ice myself so, i couldn’t see it the beginning but I saw Susan making some awesome shoots so our third seems to be in very good form. I am sure she gave a pat in the back to her skip when her last rock slid too far.

So, it’s far from over, Team Bernard will compete in the B event against Team Bakker in the afternoon at 2.00pm (mt) on Sheet B, so, no livestream.
